Questions & answers
Quotes and prices
How do I get a price?
Use the Request a quote page or call us. Tell us the route, the type of cargo, its weight or volume and when it will be ready. Desc Logistics replies with an itemised quotation.
Are duties and taxes included in the quotation?
Freight and handling are quoted separately from duties and taxes, which depend on the goods and are set by customs. We give you an estimate before clearance.
How long is a quotation valid?
The validity date is printed on every quotation. Freight rates change often, so please confirm before it expires.
Shipping and tracking
How can I track my shipment?
Go to Track shipment and enter your shipment number with the email or phone number used when booking. You can also use the tracking link we send you.
What is the difference between FCL and LCL?
FCL means you use a whole container. LCL means your cargo shares a container with other shipments, which is cheaper for smaller volumes.
What documents do I need to import?
Usually a commercial invoice, a packing list and a transport document (bill of lading or air waybill). Some goods also need permits or certificates; we will tell you which.
Can you handle hazardous or special cargo?
Often yes, with the right declarations and packaging. Tell us what it is when you request a quote and we will confirm.
Payments and delivery
When do I pay?
Payment terms are shown on your quotation and invoice. Duties and taxes are normally paid before goods are released by customs.
Who confirms that my goods were delivered?
Our driver or agent records the name of the person who received the goods at the moment of delivery. You can ask us for this proof at any time.
